Loving God,
Help us to be strong in bringing the light of Jesus to the world. May our learning about the Good Samaritan story help us to see that small acts of kindness and compassion can lead to great things.
We pray in the name of Jesus.
Amen

he lessons that we have started are built upon the shoulders of Jesus' parable about The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37). We will explore the meaning of one verse as it relates to being an online citizen.
Our learning goals are:
- to understand what it means to be a “Responsible Citizen",
- be able to recognize the positive uses of social media and start developing a class pledge to become better Digital citizens
- will have a further understanding of how to keep myself and others safe and secure online.
- will show what I have learned about being a responsible “Digital citizen” and a caring “samaritan”

The Good Samaritan Parable
As we watched the Good Samaritan Parable, many of the students had thoughts about why so many people walked by before someone helped the man. We discussed who they would be in this situation. The person who helped? Or the person that walked by without a care? All of our students raised their hand and would help out in a situation like this. We connected this to the school yard and discussed what they would do for each other. I gave them some self-reflection time to think about something that may have happened in their lives where they saw someone they knew acting as a good samaritan. You'd be happy to know that they shared a lot of stories of their parents/guardians demonstrating what a good samaritan looks/acts like. Whether that was helping someone out if they've dropped something & did not notice, or paying for someone behind you in the drive thru lane. It was very nice to hear of kindness in our community & the parents/guardians being good samaritans. Discussion: How can we be responsible citizens? As a class, we answered this in our journals. We then shared how we demonstrate the act of being a responsible citizen. |

Family Life - My Life is a Gift
In our family life books, we read about how there are many different types of gifts in our lives. Gifts we receive & gifts that are not wrapped, because they aren't things. We discussed the many gifts we have received in our lives from God & made a list in our religion journals. Below you can see our brainstorming...

October 23-27th
We started a new chapter in our religion textbook "Called to Be One"
Scripture
“...together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 15:6)
“Live in harmony with one another…” (Romans 12:16)
What do these passages tell us about how God calls us to be one?
God wants us to worship Him together; to live in peace and help and support one another - which is what living in harmony means.
We discussed how we are all unique and that together with all of our varied gifts and abilities we make up one community of God and one Church. We fit together like a puzzle and complement one another. We are currently working on creating our puzzle pieces that make us, us.

Exploring Our Faith
We read this prayer together.
Let Us Pray Together: St Teresa of Avila
Christ Has No Body
Christ has no body but yours,
No hands, no feet on earth but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks with compassion on this world.
Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good,
Yours are the hands with which He blesses all the world.
Yours are the hands, yours are the feets,
Yours are the eyes, your are his body;
Christ has no body now but yours,
Yours are the eyes with which he looks with
Compassion on this world.
Christ has no body now on earth but yours.
Then we had a discussion:
What does the term mean "Body of Christ?"
How does the prayer help us to understand the "Body of Christ"
When finished the discussion we answered the following questions in partners:

When finished the discussion we answered the following questions in partners:
- Who is the Body of Christ?
- We are the Body of Christ and we make up the Church. Jesus created the Church to help us share our faith. The Church includes baptized Catholic people all over the world and throughout time.
- What does being part of the Body of Christ mean?
- As part of the Body of Christ, we love and connect with God, who created us; we connect with Jesus when we participate in Mass and read and listen to the Bible stories; we connect with the Holy Spirit, who inspires us to show our faith through our actions and words; and because we are one body; we connect to all of the other members of the Body of Christ.
- How is the body of Christ both human and divine?
- It includes people, but it also means we are in relationship with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit - who are divine.

Month of December - Advent
Happy New Year
January 9-12th, 2017
Dear God,
Help us to have as much faith as the wise men who followed your star to find Jesus. Help us to recognise Jesus in the people that we meet as we travel through life.
Amen.
In class we had a discussion about The Epiphany. The Epiphany was on January 7th is when the three wise men visit Jesus in Bethlehem.
New Year's Resolutions & Our Faith
While it's a good idea to take a look at your spiritual walk throughout the year, January 1st is often a time of renewal for catholics.
Why not try to set goals to improve your relationship with God?
Improve your prayer life?
Read the bible more often?
Help other people?
Get involved in the church?
Plant seeds of our faith?
Bring someone to church?

Being Holy
