The lessons that we have started are built upon the shoulders of Jesus' parable about The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37). We will explore the meaning of one verse as it relates to being an online citizen.
Our learning goals are:
- to understand what it means to be a “Responsible Citizen",
- be able to recognize the positive uses of social media and start developing a class pledge to become better Digital citizens
- will have a further understanding of how to keep myself and others safe and secure online.
- will show what I have learned about being a responsible “Digital citizen” and a caring “samaritan”

The Good Samaritan - California Teen returns Wallet
While discussing being a responsible citizen I shared a story I saw on the news this week. The class really wanted to see the video, so I shared it Friday with them. They were all amazed with this story of kindness. We then had a discussion about what would they have done if they found a wallet with $1500 in it. Would they return it? Or would they keep the money? This lead into a discussion about the family & how they would need the money.

"Called to Be One"
Scripture
“...together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 15:6)
“Live in harmony with one another…” (Romans 12:16)
What do these passages tell us about how God calls us to be one?
God wants us to worship Him together; to live in peace and help and support one another - which is what living in harmony means.
We discussed how we are all unique and that together with all of our varied gifts and abilities we make up one community of God and one Church. We fit together like a puzzle and complement one another. We are currently working on creating our puzzle pieces that make us, us.

Nov 6-10
Remembrance Day Activity
This week we discussed the poem "In Flanders Fields". We went line by line and discussed what John McCrae was talking about and how he and the other soldier's would have been feeling during this time.
We also discussed how we can connect to Remembrance Day. Many of the students shared how their relatives were apart of World War 2.
The students then answered these questions on their Google Drive. Feel free to check out their writing.
1. How does this poem make you feel? Why?
2. What line of the poem do you think is the most powerful, or impacts the reader the most?
3. Why do you think that this poem is often read on Remembrance Day?
The grade 6 students did an amazing job at the Remembrance Day assembly. We are all very proud of them!

Happy New Year
January 9-12th, 2017
Dear God,
Help us to have as much faith as the wise men who followed your star to find Jesus. Help us to recognise Jesus in the people that we meet as we travel through life.
Amen.
In class we had a discussion about The Epiphany. The Epiphany was on January 7th is when the three wise men visit Jesus in Bethlehem.
January 15-19, 2017
In the fully alive textbook, we read many stories that reflected on the changes in our lives from birth through childhood.
Physical Development: Growth of the body both inside and out; the increasing ability to control and coordinate body movements (Physical wellness)
Emotional Development: Learning to recognize and express one’s feelings in a positive manner. Establish one’s identity as a unique person.
Social Development: Learning to interact with others and express oneself to others in a positive manner.
Intellectual Development: Learning to think, remember, understand, reason and use language.
Spiritual Development: Gradually learning to base one’s behaviour on our personal belief of right and wrong and the teachings of Jesus.
Our Conscience
Today, each group was giving a scenario that they needed to act out in front of the class. Each group needed a good choice and a not-so-good choice to be made about each situation. We had a discussion of the ten commandments and how it is reflected in our daily lives in the choices we make.
